The five sky images shown here are all High Dynamic Range images, giving a depth and range of color not available with most other techniques.
Printing on brushed aluminum gives the skies even more depth, leading some people to ask, "are those oil paintings?"
Although I prefer to offer the skies on brushed aluminum, the skies in color are also available as prints on professional color paper, and the ones in black and white are available printed on Ilford Black and White paper. Please inquire for pricing of prints for the size(s) in which you may be interested.
Even as a small child raised elsewhere, I knew my soul resided in the light of the Southwest.
Photography has been a passion since I was given my first Kodak Brownie as a young child. From that, I have worked my way through a couple of Nikons, a Leica, and a couple of Canons. My current camera of choice is a Canon 5D.
My early adult years were spent formally training in both Anthropology and in Medicine:
BA Anthropology University of Oklahoma
MA, PhD Anthropology University of Arizona
MD University of Kansas
Ob/Gyn Internship and Residency University of New Mexico
In the last several years I been able to return to Photography. One of the first things I learned is that film and digital are very different. To hone my skills, I took classes in Digital Photography through UNM Continuing Education's Digital Arts Program, and hold the two Certificates offered in Digital Photography through that program.
As an American Rose Society Accredited Rose and Rose Arrangement Judge, I developed an interest in photography of roses, and served as Chair of the 2009 Palm Springs International Rose Photography Show. I am currently Chair of the PSWD Rose Photography Committee.
But, skies and light are my true passion. In my work, skies are a destination in and of themselves, rather than merely a backdrop for other beautiful landscapes.
"A journey into the sky can be a journey into one's soul. . ."
While skies are my passion, I photograph a variety of subjects; please visit www.sbgphotos.com.
I also do portrait work; please visit abqmaternityportraits.com.
