My grandfather, an artist, gave me an early start in painting. He framed my first painting at age two. It was a watercolor of the burning of fall leaves, a common practice in the l930s.
Seeing this framed picture had quite an affect on me, and encouraged me to continue. My childhood and schooling was mostly spent in the arts. In my four years of high school I took sixteen art courses, all by the same teacher. During this time my parents took me to the Art Institute of Chicago, the Pallet and Chisel Club, and various art shows in Chicago galleries. I attended the Art Institute of Chicago and the American Academy of Art. As an adult I continued painting on my own while being employed in the commercial art industry.
My painting has evolved from pre-planned, realistic work to more spontaneous, post-impressionist abstraction, or whatever happens to come out.
Painting and sculpture are my life blood, a God given gift which I must respect.
